【英語歳時記】桜前線

本日の英語歳時記は、“桜前線”です。
今年は、一昨日3月18日に高知でソメイヨシノの開花が発表されました。
これから桜前線は北上していきます。

【cherry blossom front】
The time when cherry blossom differs by region.
The "cherry blossom front" is a line connecting locations where the blossoms bloom on the date as the Somei Yoshino variety.

【桜前線】
桜の咲く時期は地方によって違います。
桜前線は、ソメイヨシノの開花日が同じ地点を結んだ線です。

《豆知識》
blossomは、「花」のほかに、「開花する」という意味でも使います。
